Registration and Admission

The 5th Spiritist Symposium of Maryland is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Admission is FREE. However, REGISTRATION is required! Due to the limited permitted capacity of the venue, the Event Organizers request advance online registration for all interested in attending.

When you register, you will be asked to provide your phone number and e-mail address as a means of contact for the Event Organizers.

In-presence, same-day registration may not guarantee a seat.

2025 SSMD Charitable DRIVE

We invite all participants to donate in-kind food to the SSMD Charitable Drive to benefit the local community of North Beach and region. The library where the event is hosted has a food pantry with space to store non perishable items and a refrigerator to store some fresh items such as dairy, bread and beverages.

Items may be dropped off at the day of the event at the library or before in our Spiritist centers.

Items most needed include:

  • Tuna Fish
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly
  • Canned Fruit and Vegetables
  • Canned Pasta
  • Canned Pork and Beans
  • Canned String Beans
  • Soups (canned/dry)
  • Cereals (hot/cold)
  • Sugar and Flour
  • Macaroni and Cheese
  • Pasta and Spaghetti Sauce
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Bath Soap and Toilet Paper

Speakers 

Sylvie Porphire

SSNB

Sylvie Porphire has been involved in the US Spiritist movement for many years and with the Spiritist Society of North Beach (SSNB) since its incorporation in 2009. Sylvie participates regularly in studies and have been serving as secretary and current board member and treasurer of the society. Professionally, Sylvie is a food engineer with a Master in Food Science.

Amanda Souto

AKSS-MD

Amanda Souto is a lifelong Spiritist who has been a part of the Allan Kardec Spiritist Society of Maryland (AKSS-MD) since she was five years old. She gives lectures in both English and Portuguese, She also teaches an adolescent group at AKSS-MD, helps coordinate charitable activities, and collaborates with other Spiritist educators across the US. In her professional life, Amanda is an infectious disease epidemiologist.

Kirsten DeMelo

SSB

Kirsten DeMelo is an active board member at the Spiritist Society of Baltimore. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Spiritist parents and was a part of the Spiritist Society of Philadelphia before moving to Maryland in 2011. She has participated in the Spiritist Medical Congress and multiple Spiritist symposiums. Professional, she has bachelor in Nursing and work in the Governement as Health Insurance Specialist.

Bradley Apling

GSS

Bradley Apling holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and a Master of Science in Information and Telecommunication Systems for Business. Introduced to Spiritism in 2002, Bradley has since been involved in many Spiritist studies and activities. Currently, he serves on the board of the Germantown Spiritist Society and participates in the U.S. Spiritist Movement as a speaker and volunteer in various events.
